Global Night Commute

April 29th, 2006

I don't know if you guys ever watched the "Invisible Children" dvd, but I dare you to buy it, and if you are not moved, motivated, touched, mad, hurt, sad; I will refund your money!

I am not going to go into depth about this but I do want to tell you about it

"The Invisible Children" are kids, from 5 to 11, being kidnapped and FORCED to join an army that tells them to kill their families, and fight a war that they want nothing to do w/

FACT!
NORTHERN UGANDA CALLED THE WORST HUMANITARIAN CRISIS IN THE WORLD TODAY BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF ATTENTION1.6 MILLION PEOPLE FORCIBLY DISPLACEDAN ESTIMATED 20- 50,000 CHILDREN ABDUCTED TO FIGHT AS SOLDIERSTENS OF THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN COMMUTING NIGHTLY130 PEOPLE DIE PER DAY IN NORTHERN UGANDA DUE TO VIOLENCE

On April 29th, I joined 2500+ (in franklin, TN alone) at target and walked 3.5 miles to Peoples church. It was raining, I worked that morning and that night before. I was carrying a duffle bag that was stuffed w/ our sleeping bags and blankets. I wanted to sleep in my house, where I knew it was going to be nice. where I have a roof over my head and hearing the rain drops make a melodie by my window.

but I chose to walk 3.5 miles that night.
THEY walk 5 to 7 miles every night

I slept on the wet grass but the rest of the week I will be in a bed.
THEY sleep on the floor every night crowded w/ other children

I ate 3 meals that day
THEY barely eat one meal a day

I am 21 years old
THEY are kids from 5 to 11 years old

"THEY" are the invisible children. "THEY" are why I, for one night, walked their footsteps.

why do they commute every night in another town?
cause they are being kidnapped to join a war, an army, A WAY OF LIFE they do not want to live. they are forced to kill their families so they have nothing to return. they are tortured. beaten. killed.

these kids...they want to be teachers. doctors. rappers. lawyers. but they have to hide. walk. run.

and sometimes we think we have it bad.

so why did I do all that?

I did it so that the invisible children could be seen. heard. remembered.

they are way I am going to africa next year. matt, magen, jamie, and I feel that God has called us to go. and I know when He says to go....well, you better listen. amazing things happen when you do. I can't wait.

So, are you going to go see them? visit the website. donate. buy a dvd/bracelet. read about it.

i dare you
